A practical guideline to effective elders meetings, especially useful for larger churches with many elders. Embracing Shared Ministry: Power and Status in the Early Church and Why It Matters Today, Reviewed by Alexander Strauch: I highly commend this book. Finally, 1 Timothy states that “elders” who rule well are worthy of double honor. Yet, in verse 19 we are told that the church should not receive an accusation against “an elder.” Verse 20 then speaks of “those who are sinning,” which most agree refers to the elders.
